Testing and Tagging

Electrical testing

Why Test and Tag

As prescribed by the Occupational Safety and Health Regulations, the person having control of a workplace or access to that workplace, employer, main contractor, must ensure that all plug-in electrical equipment and residual current devices (RCDs) at the workplace are safe and appropriately inspected, tested and tagged and by a competent and trained person.

Why is Test and Tag so important?

Did you know electrical hazards exist in almost all workplaces? Each year throughout Australia there are numerous electrical accidents at work involving electric shock, many of which are fatal and could have been avoided in most cases with Qualified Test and Tag. Here at GET Test And Tag Sydney Team we save the lives and at the same time save you big money by providing the highest quality and cost effectiveness for national electrical safety testing and testing and tagging service in Australia.

In addition to your legal obligations, you have a duty of care to your staff. Electricity has the potential to seriously injure and can kill – why intentionally risk the health and safety of your greatest asset? A damaged appliance could cause electric shock, fire and even death.

If that’s not reason enough, you are also liable to punishment. OH&S Inspectors have the power to issue penalty notices and on the spot fines for non-compliance with AS/NZS 3760. Punishment varies between states but the owners, managers and responsible people could be facing individual fines of up to $28,500 and/or imprisonment depending on the degree of seriousness.

We test and tag in accordance with AS/NZS 3760 and AS/NZS 3012.

From just $2.50 per item we can give you piece of mind that your home or office are safe from defective electrical equipment.

Australian National standard

The AS/NZS 3760:2003 Standard for electrical appliance safety was introduced in 2003 and applies to all businesses that use portable electrical appliances; this applies to anything with a plug! It is a legal requirement that all such appliances are tested on a regular basis to ensure that they are electrically safe for use.

An employer must ensure that a record is made and kept of all inspections and tests made and maintenance carried out on electrical articles. The provisions for the test and tag of equipment in the workplace are set out in the following relevant acts and legislation.

AS / NZS 3760:2003 In service safety inspection and testing of electrical equipment
